What is Relationship based Education?
(Peak Performance Education)
Relationships sit the centre of our own mind map. The relationship one has with oneself and then with others, and others with you, determines all of life’s courses, particularly learning.
The more secure the relationship the more able one can “reach out” along those brain tentacles to learn, to work and to play. Relationship Based Education (RbE) is about developing tools from Positive Education to substantiate the sense of self and other to enable the critical engagement (attention) to all tasks and to learning, to make positive all learning journeys and to substantiate resilient schema pathways.
RbE profoundly directs academic performance. The Resilient Mindset needed for learning and to manage oneself in all of life’s moments, when challenge presents, is critically developed relationally. The resident or lived culture, the environment either advances this resilience or inhibits it.
The aim then is to create a Resilient Culture at school and beyond school so that all can perform at their best (including staff) each and every moment. The neuroscience of this is profound. This indicates the health and well being and therefore the “meaning” (contribution) possibility in life and growth.
